Phalacrocoracidae
Characteristic for this family is the combination of short to medium length barbules, the absence of nodes and pigmentation, and presence of well developed prongs at the distal part of barbules at both sides of the pennulum. Species examined within this family: Phalacrocorax carbo , Phalacrocorax pygmeus.
