Alcedinidae
Characteristic of this family is a combination of enlarged pigmented nodes equally distributed along the barbule with no abrupt decrease in size (node shape varies) and kinked internodes which are partially pigmented. Species examined within this family: Halcyon smyrnensis, Alcedo atthis, Ceryle rudis.
