Unique to this order is the ring-like nodes at the middle of the barbule, which often become detached in which case multiple nodes may be seen. Ring-like nodes are more common on the distal vanule. Species examined within this order: Tetrao tetrix, Alectoris chukar, Ammoperdix heyi, Francolinus francolinus, Perdix perdix, Coturnix coturnix, Phasianus colchicus.
